In Italia, dopo lo scioglimento delle Brigate Gialloblu, i primi ad adottarlo furono i veronesi. Poi i Laziali sull'onda dell'entusiasmo per l'arrivo nella capitale, sponda Lazio, di quel fenomeno-pazzo di Paul Gascoigne.
Il termine Hooliganismo (Hools la sua abbreviazione) fu coniato dai giornali londinesi per definire il fenomeno violento del tifo organizzato di casa, nazionele GOD SAVE THE QUEEN (inno nazionale).. YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE...
La tragedia del Heysel e i Mondiali di Italia '90 con le mega risse fuori dagli stadi, nei bar, sulle spiagge, per le vie della città. La pratica del TAKE END, ossia mescolarsi con i nemici per poi colpirli alle spalle.
Il fenomeno hooligans noi l'abbiamo vissuto in prima persona negli eventi appena citati.
L'isola britannica è una costellazione di Firms e Mobs (definizione di un gruppo di tifosi solido e aggressivo) che cercano di sopravvivere dalla repressione del tanto decantato Modello Inglese con lo stile Casual.
Dopo aver importanto in Italia il Calcio Scommesse d'Oltre Manica, la diretta TV, ora l'obbiettivo è copiare pure i piccoli stadi-scatola-centri commerciali con gli spalti a ridosso del manto verde senza barriere e recinzioni. Con quali vantaggi? CALCIO MODERNO NO GRAZIE!

HOOLIGAN è un termine inglese che indica una persona dal comportamento violento, indisciplinato e ribelle ed è utilizzato per indicare i tifosi più turbolenti e violenti delle squadre di calcio del Regno Unito. A partire dagli anni sessanta, molte subculture giovanili quali skinhead, herbert, mod o rude boy sono appartenuti alla schiera degli hooligan.
Secondo alcuni è probabile che la parola hooligan sia derivata dal cognome di un malvivente d'origine irlandese, Patrick Hooligan, che viveva nella capitale britannica. Altri sostengono che derivi da "Hooley's gang", una banda di giovani delinquenti provenienti dal quartiere londinese di Islington. C'è anche chi sostiene che sia correlato a "hooley", voce dell'inglese d'Irlanda che indica una festa sregolata. È certo che il termine comparve per la prima volta nel 1898 in una denuncia della polizia di Londra.
Il termine hooligan è frequentemente associato al calcio ed è passato a definire quei tifosi violenti protagonisti di tafferugli al seguito di una squadra. Il fenomeno degli hooligan è diffuso particolarmente in Inghilterra, Scozia, Francia, Paesi Bassi e Svezia, differendo dal modello dei turbolenti tifosi ultras dell'Europa meridionale.

Almost every English and Scottish football club has what is known in hooligan circles as a 'firm'. This is a name which links many like minded thugs behind one banner. The word 'firm' brings together these groups almost as organised businesses. Confrontations are often organised by the leaders telephoning each other to arrange 'meets'.
